New Year....but lots of Blast group trips to look forward to!

Been a while since the last blog but we have not been idle!
Sarah has been super busy sorting accomodation/flights etc for the three main Blast Group Kite Trips...

First we're off to Hatteras, USA in May, then in June/July we're heading off to our regular spot in Northern Portugal and then finally in November we head off once again to Brazil......so which one do you want to join us on??

These trips are all about FUN, you do NOT have to be a minimum standard (although it obviuosly helps to get most of the trip if you can ride upwind) We take the hassle out of booking a kite trip and take you to some of the best spots in  the world!
We have done all three trips many times and even we'd hate to have to choose between them, they are all awesome in their own right!

Lots more info here:

We know where to go, when to go, where the best spots are, and where the best places are to eat. You'll be surrounded by others just like you, keen to kite in beautiful places and have a laugh and learn new stuff as well.
Marc & Sarah are both fully qualified BKSA Instructors with over 20 years kitesurfing bewteen them with Marc being British Wave Champ and Sarah runner up in the Ladies so we are also well placed to offer advice and coaching during the trips whether it's freestyle or surf!

If your in the least bit interested get in touch now as we are arranging accomodation NOW for the trips and places are filling up quick!

What IKSURF had to say:

Circle One 5'8" Kite Board Independent Review by www.iksurfmag.com

Circle One have been a major player in the surf industry since 1969 and they have a long pedigree. It is very exciting therefore to see a true surf brand recognise kiting as a market worthy of their presence. For years now kiters have been trying to get recognition from the huge surf industry and bit-by-bit it seems we are getting there. Circle One have developed 4 boards for this season, a 6’6” Quad Fin Square Tail, a 6’3” Swallow Tail, a 6’ Diamond Tail and finally the 5’8” Round Tail that we have here. In that range there should be something for everyone, if you are new to the kite SURFboard market then a good rule of thumb is to choose a board 2 inches shorter than yourself. This will allow you to have enough size and buoyancy to be able to gybe it, but also mean the board will be big enough to be able to surf the wave, rather than just kite along it.

Jeff Townsley who founded the company way back when has shaped the 5’8” and he is one of the more experienced shapers out there. The board is quite narrow at 17 and three quarters but there is a good amount of volume under the feet just where you need it. It utilises a lightweight construction with vinyl reinforcing and although as with all surfboards it will need looking after it certainly withstands the knocks of day-to-day riding. The fin set up is the classic thruster lay out and high quality honeycomb fins come as standard. The great thing is that although the fins aren’t FCS the fin boxes will take FCS fins, so should you find yourself hitting the reef in a far-flung location it shouldn’t prove too difficult to get a replacement! The overall finish and look of the board is excellent, the graphics are simple and the board looks like a surfboard should, not like some 9 year old has been let loose with a set of crayons

Snow to hit Britain

Think we may get some snow kiting in again this winter!!

Taken from the Daily Telegraph.

Winter will come early to Britain next week as snow is forecast for the north while the south will shiver in frosty sub-zero nights.

The cold snap will seem worse after temperatures soared to 75F (23C) last weekend.

Forecasters warned snow is due in Scotland and possibly northern England next week, with frost as far south as southern England, which will see bitter 48F (9C) daytime maximum temperatures.

Sir Stuart Rose reveals his secret at Sir David Frost's summer party“A northerly air stream in the middle part of next week means coldest conditions will probably be in Scotland, with sleet or snow showers and snow settling on higher ground,” said forecaster Brian Gaze of independent forecasters The Weather Outlook.

“Even southern England will feel distinctly chilly."

Forecasters Positive Weather Solutions have already predicted a ‘white-out’ winter almost as harsh as last winter - with widespread snow, temperatures down to -4F (-20C) and transport chaos.

The Weather Outlook, which has an accurate seasonal forecasting record, warned the UK is now being gripped by a bitter series of winters comparable with the harsh 1939-42 winters which made conditions so horrendous during the Second World War.

Last winter was the coldest for 31 years, with an average UK-wide temperature of just 34F (1.5C).

“Winters were mostly milder than average from 1991 to 2007, but this changed with a colder winter in 2008-09 and last winter being the worst since 1978-79,” Mr Gaze said.

“History shows cold winters do tend to come in clusters, indicating underlying factors cause them to persist for a number of years.

The heaviest snowfall occurs on the boundary between cold, dry air from the east and mild, moist air from the Atlantic - so it would not be a surprise to see the west of the UK having heavy snowfalls
